Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are days away from becoming husband and wife, but how exactly did their love story start? Although they're believed to have met at the 2017 Met Gala, Nick and Priyanka's romantic history goes back even further.

Jonas made the first move—by sliding into Chopra’s Twitter DMs. He sent the first message in September 2016, he recalled to Vogue, after gushing over the actress with their mutual friend, Quantico star Graham Rogers. (Nick even teased meeting Chopra through Rogers in a 2017 interview.) Chopra responded to Jonas’ message day of, telling him to text her instead. And that’s how he got her number.

Chopra and Jonas actually had their first face-to-face encounter at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party in 2017, months before the Met Gala. Nick didn’t waste any time; he got down on one knee the moment he saw Priyanka at the celebration. “You’re real. Where have you been all my life?” he told her, in front of a bunch of people, the singer told Vogue.

But Priyanka said she only had five minutes to chat, as she had to catch a flight to India. By the time Ralph Lauren invited them to the Met Gala, they had already been flirting via text for months.

The couple had another meeting again a week before the Met Gala. This time, they had a proper sit-down with drinks at the Carlyle in New York. Afterwards, Chopra brought Jonas home to her apartment, where her mom was present.

The couple didn’t even share a kiss at the end of the night. Jonas remained “respectful” and parted by giving Chopra a nice pat on the back, the couple recalled to Vogue.

Then came the Met Gala. Naturally, Chopra and Jonas ignited dating rumors when they stepped onto the red carpet together, but, according to Bustle, both parties claimed the joint appearance "was purely platonic."

At the time, Jimmy Kimmel even asked the Quantico star why she attended the Met Gala with Jonas, to which she replied, "We were both wearing Ralph Lauren, and we decided to go together, and it was fun."

It wasn't until May this year that dating rumors between Chopra and Jonas really started going public. Eagle-eyed fans had spotted the pair snuggling up over Memorial Day weekend, while hanging out with some famous friends. By the end of July, they were engaged.
